ESSENTIAL Information

Free Funded Childcare


All 3 & 4-year-old children are entitled to 15 hours per week of free early years education.

It starts the term AFTER your child turns 3 years old.

Some 3 & 4-year-olds are also entitled to 30 hours

Some 2-year-olds are also entitled to a free part-time place. This is not currently universal and conditions do apply. You can get more information on this and also process your application online by entering your details below.




Childcare FUnding for 2-Year-Olds


  • For families in England, receiving some forms of support

  • With 2-year-old children

  • 15 hours of free childcare or early education for 38 weeks

  • To be able to take up 15 hours of free childcare for your two-year-old you or your child must meet the eligibility criteria.

  • A total of 570 hours per year, that you can use flexibly with one or more childcare provider

  • Some providers will allow you to stretch the hours over 52 weeks, using fewer hours per week


Childcare Funding for 3/4-Yea-Olds


If you have a 3 or 4-year-old, there is funding available to help with childcare costs.

All 3 & 4-year-olds are entitled to up to 15 funded hours per week, following the term after their third birthday.

30 HOURS

  • For working families in England

  • With 3 and 4-year-old children

  • 30 hours of free childcare or early education for 38 weeks

  • A total of 1,140 hours per year, that you can use flexibly with one or more
    childcare provider

  • Some providers will allow you to ‘stretch’ the hours over 52 weeks, using fewer hours per week

  • If your working pattern and/or income has changed because of coronavirus (COVID-19); before you apply or reconfirm for 30 hours.


Tax Free Childcare

  • Tax-free Childcare is a UK-wide scheme covering England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

  • To be eligible for the Tax-free Childcare Scheme, you must be working (and if you have a partner they must work too), and you must not be receiving any support through Tax Credits or Universal Credit.

  • We accept all major childcare vouchers & the Government-run Tax-Free Childcare (TFC) scheme. Tax-Free Childcare (TFC) is an offer from the Government.

  • You can get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year).
